Terms of Service

Last updated June 16, 2026

These terms govern your use of Otterly. By creating an account you agree to them. Otterly serves two kinds of account holders — parents/guardians and teachers — with the responsibilities below.

Note: This is a product-accurate draft provided for transparency. It has not yet been reviewed by counsel and is not legal advice.

Accounts

You must be an adult to create an account. Children do not create accounts and do not sign in on their own; a child uses Otterly only through a profile that a parent creates and controls. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for activity under your account.

For parents and guardians

  • You confirm you are the parent or legal guardian of any child profile you create.
  • You own and control your child profiles — their settings, the teachers you grant access to, and their deletion.
  • You may enroll a child in a teacher's class by entering that class's join code, and you may revoke a teacher's access at any time.

For teachers

  • You may create classes and share join codes with the families in your class.
  • You cannot create child profiles and cannot add a child to a class — enrollment happens only when a parent enters your join code.
  • Your access to a student's progress is read-only and time-bounded, and it ends when the class term ends, when the class is archived, or when a parent revokes it.
  • Use student information only for legitimate educational purposes.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to access data belonging to accounts or children that are not yours.
  • Disrupt, probe, or reverse-engineer the service except as permitted by law.
  • Upload unlawful content or use Otterly to harm others.

Plans and payment

Otterly is free in this version. If paid plans are introduced later, pricing and billing terms will be presented before any charge, and these terms will be updated accordingly.

Content and engine

Otterly's learning content, skill graphs, and adaptive engine are owned by Otterly and provided for personal, non-commercial educational use. The progress data generated by a child belongs to that child's family.

Deletion and export

You can export your data and delete your account at any time from settings. Deletion cascades as described in our Privacy Policy: deleting a parent account removes its child profiles and ends teacher access; deleting a teacher account archives classes and ends access without removing any child's data.

Disclaimers

Otterly is an educational aid, not a substitute for a teacher or a formal curriculum. The service is provided “as is,” without warranties of any kind, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We work hard to keep Otterly available and accurate but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the product evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “last updated” date above, and significant changes affecting account holders will be communicated by email where appropriate.
